Charles died in a Washington hospital on June 21, 1864, of typhoid fever and was buried in the Medford Baptist Cemetery. He had served for just six and one half weeks before passing away at Lincoln General U. S. Army Hospital.

Earlier in his life he and his family lived in both Washington and Shamong townships as did so many of his Bozarth relatives. An area of Tabernacle takes the family name, Bozarthtown.

Somewhat strange, William Richards, of the Richards iron manufacturing dynasty, also lived with them. The value of William’s property is listed at $100,000!
