In 1964 the Primary School was opened. It was later added to several times to meet the need for a dramatic upsurge in enrollment.
The first phase construction consisted of a building with eight classrooms, an administrators’ office, all-purpose room, kitchen and teachers room.
By 1965 stage two planning led to the next phase.
In November of 1968 stage two was complete with a new wing of classrooms on the north side.
Classrooms were soon again at capacity and stage three planning was implemented. Six classrooms, lavatories, library, and AV room as well as remedial education rooms were added in 1970.
Enrollment again ballooned from 557 to 997 in 1978. Plans were begun for a new school. A 31-acre site on New Road was purchased. Plans for a building of 28 classrooms, a gymnasium, all-purpose room, music room, science labs, computer room, art room, home economics room, industrial arts room, large library and other administrative areas were made.
Overcrowding occurred before the new building was finished so existing spaces were converted to classrooms and classroom space was rented at nearby buildings.
The basement of the 1936 schoolhouse was converted to three classrooms. The library in the primary school was converted to two classrooms and two mobile classrooms were added for music and library.
Two classrooms were rented at the Church of Christ and in1979 six classrooms were rented at the Cathedral in the Woods in Medford.
By 1980, 14 classrooms were rented. They were at Church of Christ (5), Cathedral of the Woods (6), United Methodist Church (1) and Goose Pond Gun Club (2).
