Historic Inhabitants

Every successful town starts with a few intrepid individuals who decide to strikeout on their own to make a life for themselves and their families. Early life was not easy, but these families, now well known names around town, decided to make Tabernacle their home.

This is a photo of him as a young boy in Ireland.

He came to the USA in 1847. He lived and work for Arron B Moore and Achsa Bozarth Moore. He married Rebecca Bozarth. They started their family in Bozarthtown in Tabernacle NJ, and they lived there the rest of their lives.

“She is holding her old yellow tomcat. His name was “Snubby” or “Goldy.” The last thing she did before she died was feed him and pick some squash out of the garden. Alex Foulks, who used to board with grandmom, and Aunt Emmy, used to buy beef steak to feed “Snubby.” Grandmom also had an old dog named “Maudie,” who lived to be 21 years.”

“Melvin’s old Ford car is behind her, near the maple or Apple tree between the houses. Grandmom is sitting behind a big mound of mountain pinks.”

My grandmother Abbie Marie Wills Horner.

Most people called her Bea. She loved her

family. She walked everywhere. I remember

her walking from Tabernacle to Hainesport

Just to visit us when I was a little boy.

My grandfather Melvin Horner he was a carpenter

he learned the trade from his father also worked

with family farming, when he was younger man.

Tindall Family

Many people have heard of the Haines family of Tabernacle and of Burlington County. Richard Haines left Northampton England and arrived in America sometime in 1682 on the ship Amity. And it is with his descendant Grace Templeton Haines (1902-1954), who married George Henry Tindall (1899-1985), that the Tindall family connects with the Haines family.
